Review:

I don't remember Jeremy Jordan's voice being this rich, but in The Great Gatsby, he totally nails every number, and that's what keeps this show together. Based on F. Scott Fitzgerald's classic novel, everything revolves around a gang of people who really just aren't very nice. Their lives are filled with drinking, partying, and focusing on how much money they have. Jay Gatsby's saving grace is that he really does love his old flame, Daisy Buchanan (Eva Noblezada), and he'll do anything to get her back. But on closer viewing, is this really love, or is it obsession? Daisy doesn't  really want to run off with him; she's comfortable with her brute of a husband, Tom, sleekly played by John Zdrojeski. And she won't be happy deserting her baby, Pammy.

Another slice of the play revolves around Nick Carraway (Noah J. Ricketts), Jay's old army buddy, who falls hard for the athletic, chic Jordan Baker (Samantha Pauly), who is wildly attractive but totally amoral. Will he get sucked into Gatsby's "Old sport" life style, or break free just in time?

For me, the highlight of the show is the flashy, sparkly flapper dresses on the dancers. Yes, they play up the decadence of this time period, but oh, how they do shimmer.
